The Nebraska Review
Zoo Press, which has been publishing The Nebraska Review, has discontinued operaations. We are not aware of a new host/publisher for the review as of our update on
Guidelines - The Nebraska Review publishes well-crafted literary fiction, poetry, nonfiction, criticism and interviews. The magazine also sponsors an annual award for best story, poem, and essay. There are no restrictions on content or style. Prose length for open submissions generally should not exceed 5000 words. Longer pieces of exceptional merit will be considered. The editors respond in 3 to 6 months, sometimes sooner. Please include an SASE for notification. If authors want manuscripts ruturned, please affix the proper amount of postage on a return envelope.
Open submissions of original fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction are accepted January 1 - April 30
Payment on publication in contributor's copies.
CONTEST
The winning manuscripts in each category receive $500 and publication. Entrants may submit as many times as desired in any category, but each entry must be accompanied by a $15.00 entry fee payable in U.S. funds to The Nebraska Review Awards entries should be clearly marked on the envelope by category: Nebraska Review Fiction Prize or Nebraska Review Poetry Prize or Nebraska Review Nonfiction Prize. All entries must be previously unpublished works. Entries that are not selected as winners will be considered for publication under open submissions guidelines. Please include an SASE for results. As with open submission, a sase is required for return of manuscripts. Please use appropriate sized envelopes and correct postage on the submission envelope and the SASE. Prose should be typed, double-spaced, with the writer's name and address on the first page and should not exceed 5000 words. Poetry should be typed, but may be single-spaced, and should include the writer's name and address on each poem. Standard submission is three to six poems.
