Indiana Review IR publishes 6-10 stories, 40-60 pages of poetry, 1-2 nonfiction pieces, and 6-12 book reviews per issue, as well as art inserts when funding allows.

 Guidelines - There is no need to query editors about submitting work. Manuscript status may be queried by mail or email

Poetry Prize

Prize: $1000 + publication.

Reading Fee: $15
Includes a one-year subscription

All entries considered for publication.

Send no more than four poems per entry, 15 pages maximum. All entries considered anonymously. Previously published works and works forthcoming elsewhere cannot be considered. Simultaneous submissions okay,but fee is non-refundable. Multiple entries okay, as long as a separate reading fee is included with each entry.

Overseas addresses, please add $12 for postage ($7 for addresses in Canada).


'1/2 K' Prize
for Prose Poems/Short-Shorts

What exactly is a short-short or prose-poem?
A loose definition: any piece under 500 words that does not contain line breaks.

All entries considered for publication.

Send no more than 3 pieces, 500 words maximum per piece.
(That's 3 short-shorts max per entry fee.)

No previously published works, or works forthcoming elsewhere.

Simultaneous submissions acceptable, but fee is non-refundable.

Fiction Prize

Each fee entitles entrant to a one-year subscription, an extension off a current subscription, or a gift subscription.
