Arbutus

An online literary journal that publishes poetry, fiction and non-fiction, hypertext, art, and reviews.

Submissions - We only accept e-mail submissions. We accept submissions all year long. A new issue will be published twice a year, once in late February and another in late June. Submission deadlines are February 15th and June 15th to be considered for the corresponding issue.  We accept simultaneous submissions. Please inform us if your work has been submitted elsewhere. Author retains full rights.

We cannot pay for work, but we want to act as a forum for up and coming writers as a place for them to first publish and as a place for established writers to publish their work in the new form of the Internet. Report time should be between two and five months. Please read from our current issue and the archives to get an idea of what we publish.

Poetry - We accept all forms and any subject matter. Please send three to five poems.

Fiction & Nonfiction - We publish short fiction and nonfiction pieces in any form and covering any subject matter. Prose must be under 7000 words. Please include an approximate word count.

Hypertext - We are looking for quality hypertext and hypermedia in all genres. Our goal is to publish hypertext that exhibits strong writing as well as strong technical composition.

Art - We are looking for art for the cover of each issue. Please send photographs, or drawings in JPEG or GIF format. Or you may submit a url to a portfolio of your work.

Reviews - We are looking for book reviews or essays on writing poetry or prose that are fresh and make people want to read more books.
