Branches Quarterly

e-Zine & hard copy - Seeks an eclectic mix of quality poetry, short prose, photography (JPGs), drawing, short fiction, and essays.

Guidelines - Seeking an eclectic mix of quality poetry, short prose, photography (JPGs), drawing, short fiction, and essays. Artists live in a privileged, neglected place in our society. We are expected to make concrete the fluid, to tell the future, to work without recompense, and walk around naked. This is a space where we can do all that and more. Send me an email if you have something that doesn't fit these categories that you would like to submit. Since this is the premiere issue, it isn't possible to peruse past issues for an idea of style, so I will try to give you a sense of what I'm looking for, although I would be very happy to find something good I wasn't looking for. I'm looking for solid craftsmanship (the exact) and an honest attempt to articulate the undefined. I would also like to include an essay each issue on the artistic process, role of the artist in society, etc. I expect to include the sophisticated, earthy, sassy, ethereal, irreverent, spiritual, profane, innocent, obtuse, simple, ornate, but always the real.

All contributors should know that Branches receives first serial rights, and the right to publish and archive accepted work. Work submitted must not have been previously published electronically or in print, except for contributors' own personal web sites or if a specific work is requested by the editor. Contributors should be willing to agree that, although rights revert to the artist after publication in Branches, first publication credit will be given to Branches in any subsequent publications. Branches is given permission to republish said work in a future print and/or possible audio version of the issue in which the work appears, or in a future annual Best of Branches anthology. One final, but very important point: Branches is committed to the commingling of visual, verbal, and aural art. To that end, I will be publishing these genres together in a complementary way. Contributors must be willing to grant Branches permission to present their work with other works of the editor's choosing.

Submissions can be emailed
