The WPJ Guidelines

You may submit more than once, per issue, for consideration. But please ensure that you submit only one piece per form, or email.

FICTION

Short Stories (we accept all genre)

We prefer you submit 1,500 words or less via the inline form. Online Submissions Form Query for 1,500 words or more - Max 5,000 words)

Our issues are based on themes. Please ensure you state in the subject line of your e-mail which issue/theme your submission relates to.

Flash Fiction
Send your flash based on the themes for that issue

Poems
Poetry must be pasted in the BODY of contact form or snail mailed

How to articles of all types

ARTWORK

Anyone interested in illustrating for WPJ should email Submissions with a query letter and available on-line portfolio.

Cartoons and fillers (b&w or greyscale only)

What you send to us should to be print-quality, preferably 300 dpi. We will resize the art as necessary before using it. Electronic files should be sent in jpeg format.

If you are asked to send your story or poem as an attachment file, please make sure all submissions are double spaced, one inch margins, and no fancy fonts. Please limit use of (bold) as well.


PAYMENT

*At this time, because of the newness of the journal, Writers Post does not offer monetary compensation for all accepted materials. All published material is used on a one time rights non exclusive basis. You are free to submit elsewhere. You will receive a contributor’s copy in which your work appears.

Accepts simultaneous submissions if stated in query.

RESPONSE TIME

Please allow 3 - 8 weeks on queries. Depending on numerous variables, however, it can sometimes take longer. If you have received no response after three months, send me a reminder via email stating your name, when you submitted, Issue and submission title.

Opinions Guidelines

WRITERS GUIDELINES

Your essay may come in on any side of the fence. Left, right, middle.

All submissions must be 2,500 words or less.

Submissions must be sent via our on line form. If you have trouble with the form, you may use our emil address. Please put 'Opinions' in the subject, and use our on line submission form as a guide to other information we need in order to review your submission.

You may submit more than one essay to OPINIONS, per issue, for consideration.

One submission per form, or email.

Submissions will be open to the public, and subject to acceptance based not only on the opinion but on the writing quality, word length, available space, etc.

According to the United States Supreme Court, there must be a basis in order to formulate an opinion. Without a basis the opinion can not be acknowledged. We will take the same stance. "just because" won't cut it. All essays must include and/or cite two factual reasons for which the author bases his/her opinion.

If chosen for publication, author may be listed anonymously, however, LBF Opinions requires a real name for our records. This information will held in strict confidence, and protected under the First Amendment of the US Constitution, Freedom of Speech, which states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;

Like with any open forum, or letters to the editor, this will be a non-paying market for essays.

LBF Book Guidelines

LBF is committed to quality. We want to establish ourselves as the publisher who cares about the work they send into the literary world. We are open to new and unpublished authors, and welcome your inquiries. We strive to be a complete family, and work closely with our authors. Our approach is old fashioned from editing to page proofs. You can be sure that we review and consider each and every submission we receive.

Our Guidelines

Genres
We are open to all genres. Horror, slice of life, mainstream, mystery, science fiction, romance, action/thriller, comedy, young adult, childrens, erotica, short story collections, poetry.

Novel length
Although we prefer novels to be between 50,000 and 90,000 words, we will consider shorter and longer novels.

What we look for
Fresh voices. Stories that have something to say. Stories that make you think. We want to take our readers away.

Review time
Please allow 4 - 6 weeks on queries, and 2 - 3 months on complete manuscripts.

Simultaneous submissions
We do allow simultaneous submissions if stated in query.
