The Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize

F
ocuses its scholarly titles in selected academic areas: history, political science, International Studies, Latin American studies, Russian and East European studies, composition and literacy studies, natural history, and history and philosophy of science. In the areas of history and natural history especially, books about Pittsburgh and the region form a significant part of our lists; regional books intended primarily for general readers also include photography, biographies, guidebooks, and creative nonfiction. The Press does not normally publish in the hard sciences or novels, festschriften, symposia, or unrevised doctoral dissertations.

Special series include the Pitt Poetry Series, Pitt Latin American Series, Illuminations, Pitt Series in Russian and East European Studies, Pittsburgh Series in Composition, Literacy, and Culture, Pittsburgh/Konstanz Series in Philosophy and History of Science, Milton Studies, the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize, and the Drue Heinz Literature Prize. The Press also distributes and copublishes selected titles of the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Carnegie Library, the Helen Clay Frick Foundation, and the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania.

General Guidelines

The University of Pittsburgh Press publishes titles in political science, history, composition and literacy studies, Latin American studies, Russian and East European studies, dance, poetry, regional studies, cultural anthropology, nature and natural history, environmental studies, and the philosophy of science.

The Press does not normally publish in the hard sciences or festschriften, symposia, unrevised doctoral dissertations, memoirs, or fiction (except for the Drue Heinz Literature Prize). While our editors will consider edited collections, they should have a coherent theme and be substantially new material. Collections of summaries of or excerpts from previously published materials are rarely considered.
