The MacDowell Colony
Peterborough, NH [Jan 15, April 15, Sept 15]

The MacDowell Colony was founded in 1907 to offer creative individuals of the highest talent an inspiring environment in which to produce enduring works of the imagination. Fellowships of up to eight weeks are available for writers, composers, film/video artists, visual artists, architects, and interdisciplinary artists.

Artists-in-residence receive room, board, and exclusive use of a studio. Talent is the sole criterion for acceptance to The Colony. Established artists as well as emerging artists are encouraged to apply.

Committees of distinguished professionals donate their time to judge applications, which include work samples, references, and a brief project description. There are no residency fees. Grants for travel to and from the Colony are available based on need. Financial aid for writers is available through a special grant from a foundation. An aid application will be mailed following acceptance.
